Level 1 Hands and Feet, May 10, 11 May 2012
Thermal Muscle Rehabilitation Therapy (TMRT) is an unique injury therapy that combines thermal application, compression, extension, movement, massage and breath control to give relief from pain in one treatment. With TMRT scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately. It gives the therapist the tools to relieve pain and the patient stretching exercises to continue their rehabilitation.
TMRT has been developed by Heather Reed (MHFST, IIHHT, RUIT). After years of experience as a massage and sports massage therapist Heather developed carpal tunnel syndrome and feared for her practice. She was recommended to see a therapist in the USA who had great success with repetitive strain injuries and from this treatment Heather trained in the technique. She has since combined her considerable knowledge, including the RSI technique, to create this unique therapy.
In 2011 Heather worked with a local GP to prove the effectiveness of TMRT, this is what the GP had to say:
“I sent Heather 12 patients with conditions varying from cervical spondyolosis, fibromyalgia,
CTS(need to expand acronym), frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, talipes and tennis
elbow. From the people who have reported back, about 50%, (they) stated considerable
improvement and some cured. It would have been very useful if they had all reported
back but such is life. Certainly NO-
You could work with your local GP for referrals.
Heather has trained Jenny Hummel (IIST, MTI, CNHC) in Thermal Muscle Rehabilitation Therapy and together they are offering a 2 day course to teach you TMRT. The first of three courses covers pain in the hands, wrists, elbows, feet and knees, future courses will include treatment of the whole body.
After the 2 day course you will be able to treat your clients with conditions like tennis elbow, trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, knee pain etc.
